Midnights At Midnight - A Personal Experience of Taylor Swift's Midnights Album

Since Taylor Swift announced the forthcoming Midnights Album at MTV VMAs 2022, Every Swiftie got super excited about the new album. Fans including myself have never been this excited about anything except for the album during this entire year. Though October 21st seemed to be too distant in the future, Taylor's "Midnights Mayhem with Me" series and her intros for the tracks in the album kept the waiting process enjoyable and engaging. She was there every other day revealing a new track title and giving us some glimpses into the album. The reveal that Lana Del Ray is going to be featured in track 4 on the album just blew everyone's mind because Swifties have been wanting this for a long time.

October 21st was packed, Midnights from Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys were also going to release their long-awaited studio album The Car after four years of Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino's release. Though I'm an admirer of the band's works and did enjoy the singles "Body Paint" and "There’d Better Be A Mirrorball" released ahead of the album, but, Taylor's Midnights totally stole the attention and the spotlight from The Car.

Expectations on Midnights were really high personally for me after Folklore and Evermore which will always be dear to my heart and which was something we all needed during the pandemic era. When Midnights finally pierced into my ears and brain, It's feel free to say that "YES! Taylor did it again". Once again she created a beautiful masterpiece - "an instant classic" as described by Rolling Stone.

So at midnight, I started listening to Midnights with one of my best friends, the Canary, who is also an admirer of Taylor's work - two swifties listening to Midnights at Midnight. Started off with "Lavender Haze" in order and on through the bonus tracks till "Dear Reader" each song about love, revenge, and self-loathing and more. We listened to the entire album within two hours, enjoying each song, admiring Taylor's lyrical genius, screaming her lyrics to each other, and relating with her lyrics to our own lives. Everytime Taylor cusses in the songs, it felt so necessary and gave us goosebumps every single time. It was my first time ever doing a listening party with someone, though it wasn't a party, just the two of us, it certainly was one of the happiest moments in my life. Having a best friend who shares the same interests and tastes understands your love for something, better than anyone else - in my case, my love for Taylor Swift.

Well, back to Midnights. Right after listening to track one "Lavender Haze", she and I both agreed in unison that Taylor has done it again and that's why she's known as the Music Industry. Midnights felt more like a part combination of all her previous albums especially 1989 and some new peculiar styles we have never seen Taylor using before combined with Jack Antonoff's production. It's definitely her stern return to the full pop genre and she outdid herself as always.

The key factor why I and most fans love Taylor Swift's songwriting is the relatability aspect and how each song can have a personalized meaning to you, especially with tracks - "You're On Your Own, Kid", "Question...?", "Anti-Hero" and "Labyrinth", it literally hits deep and gives you chills. I'm addicted to the album and can't stop listening to it whenever I get the chance.

As of now, my personal favorites are "Snow On The Beach", "Question...?" and "Anti-Hero". Oh, wait.., "You're On Your Own, Kid" too, "Maroon" too, wait!... I guess you get the idea, I can't pick. Every track is special and I love all of them. So if you haven't checkout Midnights yet, I would absolutely recommend you to, it is an experience you are missing out on if you don't check it out. So that's my personal experience of the Midnights album by Taylor Swift - Midnights at Midnight.
